District Work

The District called a special meeting for all its cooperators in May. At this meeting, the Board informed them about a State Soil Conservation Board report on the Fountain Creek Watershed. Attendees at the meeting also discussed the plow-out of fragile grasslands and hazardous water disposal. As a result of the meeting, the District Board wrote a letter to the Pueblo County Commissioners urging adoption of an ordinance similar to the model developed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture and the Colorado State Soil Conservation Board. The District Supervisors helped staff the Soil Conservation booth at the Colorado State Fair. At the District’s annual meeting in November, Don Moss spoke on current conservation programs, Rick Mullaney reviewed the poster contest, and Ross Campbell informed the group about the changes in the Soil Conservation District Law.
